City Hall and the Moonshine Festival

This shot, like the one earlier. is the old Thunder Road complex that was originally Bill Ellioitt's Museum and is now the home to the Cty Hall of Dawsonville, GA. This town was the beginnings of the stock racing in the early days and the Checkerboard winners circle was another perfect photo setting. The Elliot family has certainly been part of the racing scene and is still in the area and still in racing. Many of the original families of NASCAR and moonshine hauling are still in the area. Come to the Moonshine Festival every October and you can see the heritage of racing in this area. The streets are lined with old Fords that were the backbone of moonshine hauling back in the day. The Ford V8 has always been the staple of fast cars and racing. Even Bonnie and Clyde drove Fords. You will see more 1940 Fords than you can imagine as they circle the courthouse and the streets are lined with old stock car racecars. Look around and you might see Junior Johnson, Dave Pearson, Bill Elliot, Bobby or Donny Allison, Richard Petty and many others from back in the day, who come here to enjoy the Moonshine Festival. I go every year and it is always fun.
